Office Assistant/ Bookkeeper
Overview:
Personnel Services Unlimited seeks an Office Assistant/ Bookkeeper. The office assistant will have a strong knowledge of General Ledger, Month End/Year End Close, Accounts Payable and Receivable skills, and excellent customer service abilities for a local Shelby, NC client.
Salary & Benefits: $17.00/hour

Responsibilities:
This role involves managing financial tasks such as,
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Check writing
- Journal entries
- Profit and loss statements
- Month and Year End close
- Tax Returns
Additionally, you'll provide top-notch customer services, waiting on customers, answering phones, and processing orders. Proficiency in 10-key data entry and punctuality are essential.
Accounting and Financial Tasks:
Handle accounting tasks: A/P, check writing, journal entries, and financial statements.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payments, and check writing.
- Prepare journal entries to record financial transactions and adjustments.
- Assist in month-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Handle bank deposits and reconcile bank accounts regularly
- Prepares profit and loss statements, providing insights into financial performance.
Office and Administrative Tasks:
- Manage day-to-day tasks for the office, ensuring smooth operations.
- Utilize general office equipment, such as calculators, email, and computers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in 10-key data entry and keyboard skills.
- Maintain punctuality and reliability in attendance.
Customer Services Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional customer service: greet customers, answer phones, and process orders.
- Greet and assist customers in person, providing a positive and friendly experience.
- Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, addressing customer inquiries and concerns.
- Process payments and orders efficiently and accurately over the phone.
- Enter daily work, customer information, and transactions into the computer system.
- Balance daily work, fuel inventory, customer accounts, and cash register at the end of each day.
- Check-in drivers’ invoices and balance their trucks to ensure accuracy.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting or related field is a plus.
- Previous office and accounting experience preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask and work collaboratively.
